Honor Our Bravest

EVENT DATE: JUL 14, 2018
About the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation

The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.

The goal of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to continue Stephen’s legacy by supporting our nation’s first responders and service members. The Smart Home Program, constructs specially adapted, technology-enabled homes for our most catastrophically injured service members. By the end of 2018, we will have constructed 66 of these fully-serviceable homes. From tragedy to hope, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is there for families of first responders that suffer insurmountable loss. For the children of fallen NYPD Detective Miosotis Familia, their brand new mortgage-free home, funded by the Foundation and its partners, is a symbol of their mother's sacrifice. In December, Toys 4 Texas Toy Drive brought families hit by Hurricane Harvey a little happiness just in time for the holidays. With the help of 36 FDNY members, we distributed thousands of toys to children whose lives were devastated by the storm.

Your hard work on behalf of the Foundation enables us to continue to provide the help the families of our veterans and first responders  so desperately need.

Please email northconway@runnel2towers.org for answers to any other questions you might have.

Poppy Memorial - National Mall

This Memorial Day weekend, a temporary installation honoring the nation’s fallen service members dating back to World War I will be on display at the National Mall in Washington.

The Poppy Memorial, located near the reflecting pool by the Lincoln Memorial, measures 133 feet in length and stands over 8 feet tall. A series of glass panels cover one side, and within are more than 645,000 artificial poppy flowers — each one representing a serviceman or woman who gave their lives in defense of the United States since 1915.

Created by USAA as part of their annual Memorial Day ceremony in 2016, the current memorial is a traveling exhibit, larger in scale, more more robust, and able to be set up outdoors. This year marks the first large public display of the memorial; it will be on the South side of the Lincoln Memorial from May 25 to May 27.
