Current Post Meeting Minutes

Mar 23rd, 2021 Minutes: Post-95 Officers (6),  Members (1), Guests (1) Quorum Met

Officers Present:JiJim Lefebvre, Steve Robinson, Don Ekberg, John Pandora and Peter Payne

Post Business: Commander Lefebvre called the meeting to order at 1900. A quorum was present. No minutes from last meeting (December 8th) available.
We still have members that have yet to pay their 2021 dues. Current membership is at about 85%. It has been few years since Post 95 has been at 100%. Post 95 has on average loses 6-7 members per year due to deaths and membership totals have declined steadily for the past few years.

As most are aware, the annual Legion Convention originally scheduled for June this year, has been cancelled. The NH Department is seeking to hold a one-day convention at a legion post that can accommodate those attending. The latest information from the Department has stated the convention is scheduled to take place at the Greenville Pavilion on July 10th 2021 at 10AM. The adjutant needs to submit a delegate sheet to the Department by June 1st. Any who plans to attend this one-day conference is asked to let the adjutant know by June 1st. Attendees are asked to bring their own folding chair. Dress is casual and convention will be held outdoors.

The adjutant will order 3 gross of flags and more US Veteran grave makers to have available for Memorial Day. The post has a back room full of discarded flags yet to be disposed of... we are hoping to use the Post 46 burn pit to properly dispose of the flags in addition to the flags that will be pulled from cemeteries put out last year. We dont have room enough for two years of discarded flags and disposal needs to be a priority. At the next meeting on April 27 we will seek volunteers and a time to put out flags prior to Memorial Day ..May 30th. The North Conway Cemetery takes almost 2 gross of flags and will be the most time consuming of all the cemeteries Post 95 covers.

Post 95 will continue to hold meetings once monthly on the 4th Tuesday until further notice.

The commander is in discussion with the town on whether there will be any July 4th activities planned. He is also discussing matters needing to be resolved at the West Side Road cemetery.

Roger Blake has offered once again to re-hang” Post sign that fell down sometime over the last month. The rotted window frame has been repaired/replaced by Mr. McCluskey. Not sure if we are to expect an invoice on his work completed.

The new MyLegion database goes live April 1st. Users are asked to re-register their member account in preparation.
The Legionnaire will be going digital for the May/June issue. The paper has been a major expense for the department to print and mail. A digital format will bring significant savings for the Department.
The Mount Washington Valley School to Career summer camps will be in person this July.
4 camps are scheduled with the 1st starting 7/5 with 3 subsequent camps following. Each camp runs 4 days with the last ending 7/30. Any who wish to donate monies towards scholarships for kids attending, can contact Joe Riddensdale j_riddensdale@sau9.org 603 356 4370 x3219
Granite State Recovery Center out of Salem NH has approached the post and asked if we could put a link on our blogsite regarding their services offering help for Combat Trauma and Alcohol Awareness. Since our blogsite is seldom visited by anyone ..a link would not create much awareness on their behalf. They have a presence on Facebook and a link to their website is below for any who wish to know more.

Another option to create awareness is to possibly have Granite State come up with more formal presentation in person and/or use Valley Vision as a way to put information out to the public.

Our tenant Meagan Vertigen, approached members present at this meeting about the need to replace the refrigerator. A shelf is broken and mechanically the refrigerator is very loud. We believe the refrigerator is original equipment when the apartment was first built. Megan will research refrigerators that suit her needs and seek to find the best price possible. Jim will also arrange for someone to come to the apartment to determine if refrigerator is even repairable. Utilities are included with the rent and Mary says the water, electrical and heat used each month have been very reasonable.
